Millennium Anxiety.  Reaching into 2000   By:Philip A McAlary.

With prophecies of doom, suffering and biblical vengeance, the planet, or rather most of its people, have been almost programmed into believing the end is near. Others live in denial and are constantly frustrated by all the negative discussions of this topic.

The truth! We have global warming, ozone depletion, licenses for continued polluting, unhealthy forestry practices, repetitive toxic waste dumping, freshwater shortages, unclean air, prolonged fatal 'for profit dis-eases, nutritionally imbalanced massive scale food distribution practices, poverty, epidemics, endangered species, corrupt short sighted government representation, war... Shall I go on?

Is it any wonder why most people are experiencing severe mood swings, prolonged sadness, sudden anger, anxiety, road rage, unexplainable stress, extreme highs, lows, and feelings of emptiness. As we are now into the 2000's we're finding too many family units, office and social situations being plagued with mental chaos. Bottom-line, people seem to be going to Hell in a handbag, to quote a phrase.

Everyone, of the hundreds of people I have surveyed is, or knows of many persons going through a roller coaster ride of emotions. In work situations there have been unusual power struggles, ego bashing, and backstabbing. Coworkers and relationships have been running very hot or very cold. Many people seem to be wanting and calling for change, but feel helpless to do anything. Strangely though, if change does present itself, most of these same persons try to fight it or runaway. With persons all over the world going through identity crises and dissatisfaction of where they are at in their lives, emotional instability's are causing friction in various social structures. Yet the reality is, most of these same individuals, are programmed with fear, thereby they lack focused drive, ambition and the methodology to change.

Most just talk, complain or attempt to bring others down with them, thereby perpetuating a negative cycle. It's a known fact that misery loves company.

In the mirror, we're seeing ourselves with considerable more clarity as well as what we reflect upon others. The energy level is, so to say, cranked, and it is getting more difficult to blame others for problems without exposing ourselves. How we feel and our individual emotional states, are not someone else's resolve.

In the bigger picture, violence continues to be prime time.

The natural act of sex remains both dis-eased and restricted.

Hemp/Cannabis, a very possible forest saver, is still illegal.

The pain, destruction and suffering of war is misrepresented and continually being glorified. Obsolete fossil fuels are dominating the international markets while poisoning our planet. These are just a few theological irregularities. It is hard to imagine when, and if, the healing of our planet will be allowed by our governments to begin. Millennium anxiety is a well-grounded truth, not just an excuse. Change is the only thing guaranteed in the universe. In the words of the late John Lennon, "There are no problems, only solutions". We need strong leadership that places sustainable environment and people before short sighted and detrimental profits.
